Ecuador is a dollarized. country….more stable…

Ecuador officially adopted the U.S. dollar as its currency on January 9, 2000. The decision was made by then-President Jamil Mahuad in response to a severe economic crisis marked by hyperinflation, a banking system collapse, and a sharp depreciation of the Sucre, Ecuador's previous currency. The transition to full dollarization was completed in September 2000 under President Gustavo Noboa, when Sucre banknotes were phased out, and U.S. dollars became the sole legal tender.

The move helped stabilize Ecuador's economy, controlling inflation and restoring investor confidence, but it also limited the country's ability to implement independent monetary policies.
